eWeek: Windows Genuine Advantage "Phones Home" Daily, Furtively

I just don't know what to think, other than perhaps I want my computer's resources to be working for me, not Microsoft (beta-testing aside). You know I'm normally quite verbose, but I don't even feel like writing about why Microsoft did it and the changes they plan to make for the next version of WGA. Read the article here.

Ok, I do have to ask how they managed to hide this from all the firewalls. Surely not even a rootkit could explain that. Can anyone help me out?
